Pearl will experience at least one hour of downtime tomorrow, potentially as much as five hours. You will still need to connect with a 1.7.2 or 1.7.5 client afterwards. Once more of Minetown is updated, connecting with newer versions will be enabled.

Pearl has continued to be on 1.7.5 since some weeks, as there was a large "breaking" change between 1.7.5 and further versions. However, we cannot avoid moving forward and many plugins have now put out versions for 1.7.9 (the next version up is still rather fresh and offers very little).

Early tomorrow, an attempt will be made to update Pearl to 1.7.9 and maintain member-important data. The update process will take some time though, as we have to ask Mojang's servers what "UUID" belongs to each player, for every player that has logged in to Pearl. During the process, the server may appear online, but you will not be able to connect.

I am very hopeful that Pearl will update with no critical problems, there are already two other servers on Minetown that are updated. However, if things go a little too rough, the server will be returned to a point right before trying the update.

    Best regards,

This is now done. :) Though the conversion process was tedious for how many times I had to restart the server, there was very few unique errors. There were only seven player data files that appear to have failed to convert, but those players have for the most part not been online in several months (perhaps do not have full Mojang accounts?)

As stated at the beginning of this thread, you will still need to connect with a client profile on version 1.7.2 or 1.7.5. You may see a red warning about the server being on version 1.7.9, but you should still be able to highlight the server info and hit the "Join Server" button. Using a more recent client version will instead result in an "Outdated Server" message until Minetown's full server cluster has been updated.

Please report if you discover any new bugs, or if old bugs no longer exist. :p
